Ron Janis Allegedly Hits on Customer's Mom

Ron took down the reviews section of the Private Sewer and Water Corporations Facebook page since they had gotten so bad.   Even though I failed to screenshot them at the time, I was able to find one of the juicier ones on another review site.

I found this on citysearch.com from Patrick W.  I'm fairly certain that this guy had left positive comments on the facebook page originally then had to go back and remove them after he realized that Ron was only going to do half the job  and steal the rest of the money.

This review sounds pretty similar to mine, minus the part where he hits on the dude's mom.  Thankfully my mother wasn't around when Ron was here.

Ron is a Lying thriving conman of the worst kind. He lied to my face, hit on my mother and took us for $2000! Called him over 20 times talked to him 12 times and every time he made an excuse or didn't show up when he said he would costing days of work having to stay home to wait for no shows. May god have mercy on your soul Ron.

Hitting on your customers. Classy.

The other frustrating thing is how little Ron respects other people's times.  We've rearranged our schedules countless times to accommodate him and he still can't be bothered to show up.  This poor guy takes off work so Ron can finish the job and again Ron no-shows.  Not only does he waste the guy's time, but he forces him to burn vacation or PTO for no reason.  It doensn't matter though because he got his money.

Private Sewer and Water Facebook Page Back Online

After a week Ron finally got his Facebook page back online.  Its my fault.  I had been so busy that I hadn't taken screenshots of all the negative reviews that Private Sewer and Water had been racking up.  I figured Ron had either taken the page down because he couldn't figure out how to make the reviews go away and it was making him look really bad, or he tried taking them down and accidentally took down the whole site instead.

I was hoping that it was the former and he would put the page back online, at least for a bit just to spite me.  That way I could get the exact text of the reviews and commentary rather than paraphrasing from memory.

Alas he figured out how to remove the reviews section.  He just wasn't smart enough to test the site from an external user's view.

We did have an interesting text exchange though.

Me:  Aww, you took down your FB page.  How are people supposed to know if you are lying or if you are really going to show up when you say you will?
Me: Speaking of which, where is my money?
Ron: Whooops! I accidentally unpublished it! Thanks for the heads up!
Ron: In keeping with the spirit of Christmas why don't we settle this thing once and for all and enjoy the New Year.
Me: I'd love to settle this but all I get from you are excuses, lies and empty promises. You tell me how you think you're going to resolve it

No Response after that. Just more BS from Ron.

More People Scammed by Private Sewer and Water Corp,and they take down their Facebook Page

There has been a lot of drama over at the Private Sewer and Water Corporation Facebook page in the past few weeks.  Unfortunately December has been pretty busy for me so I haven't had the time to document it and now it might be too late.  I'll do the best I can from memory.


First, you'll recall some relatively friendly banter between Ron and a reviewer that gave him two stars.  She was wanting to know when the job would be finished. He gave her the usual BS about sometime later in the week.  She accepted and said she would hold him to it.  That date came and went and there wasn't an update.  I assume Ron never showed up. If he had I think he would have pushed her to change the review. Or at least commented on it again.  My guess is that he fed her another line of BS on the day that he was supposed to show up and they are at a stalemate.

That was largely uneventful.  The real drama came when Ron picked up three more 1 star reviews.  It stared when a couple of people started commenting on in the thread of a much older review about how much of a liar Ron is.  How he continually just lies to your face.  Then one person in the thread commented on how they were going to take the Private Sewer and Water Corporation to court.  And then another guy asked if anyone knew where Ron lived because he'd be willing to sit outside his house with a sign.

Then the Facebook page was taken offline for about a day.

When it came back there were two more reviews.

One I am almost positive came from a guy that had previously left glowing remarks on one of Ron's brag posts.  I remember because it was one of the days when Ron said he'd finish my job. Instead he posted a brag about someone else's and the customer added a comment about how great Ron is.

Well turns out Ron was only great until he go his money.  The guy gave him a 1 star review and said that Ron stole over $2000 from him, hit on his mother, and lied to his face. Once again, I have to reiterate that under no circumstances should you pay Ron Janis or the Private Sewer and Water Corp until they have completed the job.  They will steal your money.

As if that wasn't enough, yet another reviewer left a 1 star review commenting that he had taken days off of work and Ron and simply not showed up.   How disrespectful of people's time can you be where they take time out of their jobs to accommodate you and you can't even show the decency to show up?  Well, that is what you get when dealing with Ron Janis.

Finally, a bit of an odd review some guy left a  three star review saying he was undecided, and listing his phone number and contact info to follow up.   It was almost like hearing one side of a phone conversation.  Very weird.  I think it was a threat/warning to Ron that he was waiting on the results of a scheduled appointment before finishing the review.


So a lot of people found Ron's Facebook page this month.  Or Ron has just been screwing over people more regularly.   In any case, Ron took the page down.  At least I assume he took it down in an attempt to silence his critics.  I consider that a small victory.  Now he doesn't have Facebook to use for propaganda.  Another possibility is that he went out of business and shut it down.  Although i don't know how he could go out of business while getting paid for so many jobs that he doesn't actually do.   That seems like a good business model.  Take money, don't do work.

 

Three weeks go by. Still no progress from Private Sewer

So its been three weeks since I've heard from Ron.  You remember when he said he was "Definitely going to finish my project" and then started a new job in my neighborhood instead.  At this point I this is more or less what I expect and is just further evidence that Ron Janis is a liar and is making no effort what so ever to complete the job that he was paid for.

On another note a few weeks ago he picked up another negative review on Facebook and commented on it, telling the customer that he'd finish her job the following week.  A few days ago she commented back that she is still waiting.

True to form, Private Sewer does not show up again.

As expected nothing actually happened today.    Ron said he would be out and he wasn't.    Par for the course.

One interesting thing that did develop is some other random customer of Ron's liked my review of his crappy customer service and posted the following exchange.

Its disheartening to see that she's willing to up him to 5 stars after he completes the process since that reinforces that his crappy behavior is OK, but maybe he's been more honest with her on what his actual work schedule ends up being.  We'll see if he actually completes the job in a couple weeks.

Ron Initiates Contact. Its a Miracle

So, Ron actually called me today.  He said he is going to be at another job in Berwyn tomorrow so he'll try to finish up mine as well. He had some convoluted plan of sending the guys to do the electrical in the morning, and then someone else to dig out the catch basin later so they didn't get all muddy before doing the indoor work, but he doesn't know exactly when they'll be here and yadda, yadda, yadda.


The fact that he actually called to try to set something up is shocking and almost made me think there was a chance this would get done.  But then I thought about who I was dealing with and all of the fuzzy indirect maybe plans of action that he presented and realized that there is still probably not much of a chance that he's actually going to do anything.


We'll see.  I plan on still moving forward with a lawyer, and small claims court if I have to.  If by some miracle he actually shows up tomorrow, then I'll stop the process, but I'm not delaying it anymore in hopes that he comes through this time.

As expected no progress

Ron texted yesterday that he'd get back on schedule today.   And I told him neither one of us believed that.  Turned out I was right.  He had some other job lined up and had no intention of finishing ours.  Whatever.  I'm so done with him at this point. 


I did post on his Facebook wall just to let him know that I was still aware of his BS and that I want my money back.

See, I knew you had no intention of "getting back on schedule" today.  You already had something else lined up.  Why don't you just send me a check for the work I paid you for that you are unable to complete. It will save us both a lot of hassle. Its what normal companies do.  Its called not being a thief 

More of the Same. Private Sewer and Water No Shows. Ron Janis Lies.

Last night posted on Private Sewer and Water's Facebook page to remind Ron that he was supposed to be at my house at 8am this morning.

He didn't respond.  Which is typical, and wouldn't be noteworthy except that at 9 am this morning he texted me the following:

We'll be in your neck of the woods around noon.

Ron Adjust Schedule Again

So either Ron knew that he wasn't going to show up and scheduled time anyway, or something else came up and he didn't bother to tell me until an hour after he told me he would be here.  Either way, its pretty unprofessional. But it doesn't end there.

Ron never actually showed up.  Instead around noon he posted picture of a sewer repair that he was doing at another house in Berwyn.  That's right, instead of finishing the job that I paid him for back in February, Ron Janis thought it would be better to start a new job and just not tell me that he wasn't going to show up.

That's the last straw.  Its obvious he has not intention of finishing the job and I'm not wasting any more of my time trying to get him to do so.  I posted the following to his Facebook page.

Are you kidding me?  After standing us up countless times you were supposed to come out Friday.  You rescheduled to this morning at 8 am.  At 9 you rescheduled to noon.  Then we never heard from you again. Instead of completing the job you were paid for months ago you started a new one a few blocks away.
 
We're done playing games with you Ron.  We're going to hire someone competent to finish the job you started. You can expect to hear from our lawyer shortly.  You can also expect your online reviews to take another hit.  Anytime you want to cut us a check for the work we paid you for that you refuse to complete we'll halt the process.  If not we'll see you in court.

Ron texted me back reasonably quickly. If only he would respond to regular customer calls as quickly as he responds to complaints on his Facebook Page.

Job took longer than expected, not much we can do about that. We can however get back on track tomorrow, just don't threaten me with slandering comments. I've already seen your bogus reviews and I believe it's a waste of time to keep doing that. Plus we can really care less about a few false reviews. We can resume tomorrow or not. That's up to you. I suggest you talk to your lawyer about that one. Till then, we'll be waiting to hear from you! We look forward to wrapping up your project!

So much BS there I don't even know where to start.

1. Job took longer than expected, not much we can do about that.  - Actually there is lots you can do about that.  You can start my job first since you told me you would and I already paid you months ago.  You could learn to estimate time since you've been doing this for 20 years.  You could tell me that you aren't going to show up so I don't sit around waiting for you.
2. We can however get back on track tomorrow, just don't threaten me with slandering comments. I've already seen your bogus reviews and I believe it's a waste of time to keep doing that. Plus we can really care less about a few false reviews. - He has no intention of getting on track tomorrow any more than he planned on finishing today.  He doesn't know what slander means.  He got pretty pissed off about my review on Yelp, and he's submitted a number of fake positive reviews.
3. We can resume tomorrow or not. That's up to you. I suggest you talk to your lawyer about that one. Till then, we'll be waiting to hear from you! We look forward to wrapping up your project! - Again, countless times we've tried to finish the project and Ron has never shown up. He didn't bother to try to reschedule today when he missed the appointment.  He's not coming and he knows it.  I like how he's also trying to put the onus back on me to finish the job.  Like I haven't been bending over backwards to accommodate him for almost a year.

I responded with the following.  I would bet almost anything that he doesn't show.  Any takers?

There's plenty you could do. You could start my job first. You could learn to estimate your time better.

I don't think you know what slander means. Also I'm not sure what you think is false or bogus about my reviews. I paid you for a job, you continually fail to complete it. I've seen others give negative reviews for much less.
I'm not threatening you. I've exhausted all other other options and I'm sick of you wasting my time. I don't appreciate being taken advantage of.

We both know you have no intention of coming out tomorrow. If you want to pretend that you're going to do you job then fine. Text me when you're on your way. I'll believe it when I see it.

Dilemma

Yesterday I posted on Private Sewer and Water's Facebook page reminding Ron that he committed to finishing the job at my house today. 


But I have a problem.  My wife had planned to go to my mother's today so that she could do some freelance while my mother watched my daughter.   Which means no one is going to be around when Ron is supposed to show up.   Chances are that Ron is not going to show up, but I can't allow him to claim that he tried to finish the job but we weren't here. That would give him months of time to delay and pretend that he had the high ground.


So I posted on their wall again this morning. 

Hi Ron.  Just wanted to remind you that you committed to finish the job at my house later today.  My wife will be running errands through out the day so please text me when you are on the way, or know the exact time you are going to show up so that we can make sure someone is around.

So now on the off chance that he actually does show up when he said he'll show up I can go home an meet him there.  I had a bunch of meetings scheduled that I really couldn't afford to miss, but I need to get this project done, so I'll go home if I have to.


Around 1:30PM I get the following text. 

We have to move you to Monday, sorry.  First thing though.
So around 8.

So, there you have it.  If you bet on Ron postponing his commitments you win every time.  We'll play the game on Monday.  On the plus side Ron actually told me that he wasn't going to show up today and tried to reschedule rather than just disappearing.  Small victories.

More Empty Promises from Ron Janis

As I said last post, I had to resort to posting to Private Sewer and Water's Facebook page in order to get any sort of response from them.


I posted:

Still waiting on you to schedule completion of the job I paid you for back in February.  Do you even believe the promises that you make or do you just say stuff and then immediately forget about it?  Anytime you want to write me a check for the work I paid for that you refuse to do I can leave you alone.

Ron texts me back.

Ron:  Your a madman. Friday midday.
Me:  Mad is an understatement
Ron:  So your happy???!!!!

I can't tell if I'm being trolled or if Ron actually thinks he's funny, or he just doesn't grasp the English language.

Once Again, no contact from Private Sewer and Water

At the end of the day last Friday I asked Ron when he was going to finish the job I paid for back in February.  He texted a response that he would definitely do it this week, the week of November 3rd.

It is now almost noon on Wednesday and I have not heard anything from him.  I texted him yesterday right after work to verify/remind him that he was going to come out this week and that it would be nice if he scheduled a time.



I guess I'll try posting to Facebook.  Again.



I have no doubt that Ron has no intention of finishing the job this week.  This is just further evidence that Ron Janis is a liar and a thief.

Private Sewer job still not complete. Possibly next week?

Another week has passed and Ron Janis and the Private Sewer and Water Corp have made no progress towards completing the job that I paid for back in February.

Since he won't respond to text or phone I asked on his Facebook page if he had a plan or if he was just going to wait until winter and then claim that it was too cold to finish his work.

Ron actually responded this time.  He called and unfortunately I was in the car on the way home so I didn't hear it.   He also didn't leave a voice mail which is typical.  He did text me though.

Ron: Definitely this upcoming week.
Ron: The week of November 3rd.  

Notice how he didn't try to set up a date and time. Just a vague sometime next week.   What that means is that he currently doesn't think he has a full week of work next week, so when he runs out of stuff to do he's going to try to fit us in.  The problem with that is that our week is going to be pretty busy and if he doesn't tell us when he is coming ahead of time, chances are we are not going to be available.  Ron is not considerate enough to think of that, but I've come to expect as much.

I would give 100 to 1 odds on them showing up next week.  50 to 1 on him even attempting to make contact with me without prompting from me.

Ron Janis refuses to finish job, no problems starting new ones.

It never ceases to amaze me how much effort Ron puts into not finishing the job that he has already been paid for.   He told me he would be out to finish last Thursday.  Then we he didn't show and I called him on it, he pretended that he meant the following Thursday, but could do it Monday instead.  Of course instead of showing up up at my house first thing Monday morning, like he said he would, he started a new job in Glen Elyn.   And then today, instead of finishing the job he started yet another new job.





The lack of professionalism is just astounding.

Private Sewer and Water BBB Complaint Comparison Chart

I happened to browse the BBB page for the Private Sewer and Water Corp this afternoon.  I noticed someone else filed a complaint against him and Ron chose not to respond.  I guess I can take solace in the fact that I'm not the only one he's screwing over.


I also found this chart.

Notice that there are 266 total contractors listed.  Of those 7 have had 1-4 complaints over the last three years.  That understandable.  Sometimes things go wrong, or people have disagreements or whatever.  Even worst case scenario that is only one complaint every 9 months for seven of those companies.  The one company that is in the 5-25 complaint range:  You guessed it Private Sewer and Water Corp, lead by Mr Professional himself Ron Janis.    He has had 7 complaints in the last three years.  Six of them are from this calendar year.  Ron must really be putting his scams into overdrive.

Still no Follow up from Private Sewer

Ron never followed up on his "We're coming" text.  Typical.  Why would he bother making an effort to complete work if he has already been paid for it? 

More Non Committment from Private Sewer

I posted on the Private Sewer Facebook page again this morning

Its funny Ron, our project was real important to you right up until the part where we paid you.  Since then you have shown almost zero interest in completing it.  Does that sound more like an honest business man, or a con artist?  It has been 263 days since I paid you in full for a job.  You've told me that it is only a half a day worth of work left.  I don't understand why you can't block off some time to finish it.  Or just give me my money back.  I'm sick of your excuses.  Finish the job.

Ron texted back a heart a few minutes later. followed by "We'll be There".


I ask when, pointing out that he said he would be there yesterday.  And the week before that.  And the week before that.  No response of course.  My guess is that he is hoping to finish up early on some day and then fit us in after that.  Problem is everything takes longer than he thinks so that will never happen. 




I think I'm going to start a Facebook group similar to this blog.

 

Private Sewer & Water Still Avoiding Completion of the Job

Ron tried to call me around 1:15.  Unfortunately I was unavailable and he didn't leave a voice mail.  I called him a few minutes later and got his answering machine.  I left a message but have not heard back.


Meanwhile Ron posted on the Private Sewer and Water Facebook page that he was installing a new sewer and water line in Glen Ellyn. I noted that it was too bad he had to blow off a scheduled appointment in order to do that work.

More BS from Ron Janis

That last FB post got Ron's attention.


He texts the following:


Ron:  Stop being a stalker!!! Lol, seriously though, they're in Glendale Heights.  Should be done by 1 or 1:30.  See you then.
Me:  No.  You said first thing this morning.  I'm sick of your bs.  You have until noon.  The only way to get you to respond is to post on FB, so I'm going to continue doing that until you finish the job.




By now this is pretty typical.  Ron is terrible at time estimation.  Or possibly just a liar.  Or maybe a combination of the two.  What is going to happen is they actually finish up around 3.  Which means the earliest they could get to my place is 4, which is way too late to start anything.  He'll have some BS excuse to delay until the end of the day when he will think that since his day is over he is no longer obligated to meet any of the day's commitments.

Monday Morning No Show by Private Sewer & Water

If you go back to last Thursday, you'll remember that Ron Janis said he would show up first thing in the morning today.  As of 10:00 AM we haven't heard from him.  I texted him stating that he was late and that we have other things to do today besides wait for him.  No response.


At 10:30 I posted on the Private Sewer and Water Facebook page.

Hey Ron.  You said you would be at my house first thing this morning, no games.  We haven't heard from or seen you yet.  We have other things to do today besides wait around and hope you actually show up.  What is your ETA?

At 11:00 he had deleted the comment, but still not showed up.  I post the following:

 So  you saw the message and deleted it, but didn't respond.  Does that mean you aren't coming after all?  I'd be shocked if this wasn't at least the 20th time this has happened.  The complaint to the City of Berwyn goes in the mail at Noon if you haven't shown up by then.

 

Ron Tries to Explain His Absense

It's the end of the day and I still haven't heard from Ron.  I posted the following to the Private Sewer and Water FaceBook page:

Hey Ron, do you get mail at the address posted here?  You never responded to my BBB complaint, or my Angie's List complaint so I want to make sure when I submit my complaints to the City of Berwyn and the IL Atty General that they are able to reach you.

He responds via text:

Ron:  You're a madman!  I told you Thursday!
Me:  What day is today?
Me:  Oh.  Imagine that, today is Thursday.
Ron:  I meant next Thursday, but as luck would have it, we have time on THIS coming Monday.
Me:  Fine We'll play this game again on Monday 10/27.  What Time?
Ron:  First thing.  no games.

In what world do you tell someone on a Tuesday that you will do something for them on Thursday and mean the Thursday in 9 days and not the upcoming Thursday in 2 days?

He's obviously trying to cover his ass.  Anyone want to bet on whether or not he shows up on Monday? 

Private Sewer No Shows Again

On Tuesday Ron said that he would be at my house today at 9:00am to complete the project that I paid for 9 months ago.  It is now almost noon and we haven't heard from him.  I texted him and posted on his Facebook page, but he has not responded.  Just when I think he can't be any less professional he pulls the same stunt.  I'm planning on submitting an official complaint to the Berwyn and the Illinois attorney general this afternoon.

Private Sewer and Water still not ready.

I texted Ron on the way to work that I was ready today.

He didn't respond.

Around noon I posted the same on his Facebook page.

I see that he deleted my comment, but has not  responded.

This afternoon I posted the following.

I see that you've deleted my comment, but failed to respond.  So now that we've debunked that "Whenever I'm ready" garbage can you admit that you have no intention of finishing the job and just give me my money back?

He texts back:  How about Thursday?
I say ok, what time.  No Response.

On the way home from work I text again:  What time on Thurs?
He responds:  9.

I'm ready. Private Sewer and Water is not.

So yesterday Ron indicated that he would finish the job whenever I'm ready.  I told him I was ready today and he hadn't responded.

At the end of the day I posted on his Facebook page.

Hi Ron. I was ready today, what happened?  Can you explain to me how you aren't taking advantage of us when we've already paid you and in 9 months you can't manage to send a crew to our place to complete the job, but you have no problem sending them to start new ones?

No response from him of course.

Halloween Party - Missed Opportunities

We had our annual pumpkin carving party yesterday.  When I realized how many Berwyn residents were in attendance I thought it would be a good opportunity to remind Ron about what he is giving up by refusing to finish a job that he has paid for.


I posted on the Private Sewer and Water Facebook wall that we had the party and since people kept asking why I had an extension chord running across my basement and into the crawlspace that I had to explain what a crappy job he did.  It was too bad because instead of complaining about him I could have referred a whole bunch of new business to him.  Most Berwyn residents have had flooding issues in the last few years and could probably use his services.  Even though it may seem like he is benefiting by taking advantage of us there are opportunity costs for his poor behavior.

Ron texted back almost that it wasn't about taking advantage of us it was about getting guys over there.  Whenever you are ready.

I texted back that I've been ready for months.  I'm ready tomorrow.  I'm ready the day after that.He needs to make it a priority.

No response from him.

And that is a bunch of crap.  Of course he is taking advantage of us.  He controls where his guys go.  There is no magical wall around Berwyn that is preventing his guys from coming out here.  If he had any desire to get guys out here they would have been here.  But he doesn't.  He's already been paid for this job so he doesn't think there is anything to gain by completing it.  Unfortunately I can't unpay him so he thinks there is no risk in not doing the job.

Ron Janis is a liar.  Plain and simple.

Still no word from Private Sewer and Water

Still no contact from Ron.  I posted the following to his Facebook page which he ignored.

And another day goes by with no progress being made. I don't understand why you keep dragging this out. If you don't want to do the work you were paid for why don't you just give me my money back so we can go our separate ways?

No response.

No contact from Private Sewer and Water

I posted on Facebook this morning to remind Ron that it has been 251 days since I paid him to do a job that he has not yet finished.

No response.

This afternoon I posted again telling Ron that if he didn't want to do the job the just give me my money back so I can hire some one who does want to do the work.

No response.

250 Days since I paid and Private Sewer has still not completed the job.

The title of this post is accurate.   250 days ago Ron Janis convinced my wife that we should pay him despite the fact that the Private Sewer and Water Corp had not yet finished the job.  Its also been about that long since we've seen them at all.

Ron said he would touch base with me this morning.  As is typical I haven't heard anything by 10am, so I texted him to remind him.

No response.

This afternoon I posted on posted on Facebook that he was supposed to get in touch with me this morning.

No Response.

More run around from Private Sewer

I texted Ron again this morning on the way to work reminding him that with the expected rain all week it would be good time to work indoors on the electrical that I payed for months ago.  He didn't respond.

So this afternoon I posted on facebook that it was 249 days since I paid him.   He needs to finish the job or give me my money back.

On the way home he texted me

Ron: You need to answer when I call Facebook stalker! Lol just Kidding!:-)
Ron:  I'll touch base in the morning.  We have a lot of rain on deck for the week.
Me;  When did you call and why didn't you leave a VM?

So first off he hasn't called me in months, so I don't know what that is about.  Secondly, if anyone needs to respond to anything its him.  he hasn't responded to a text or call in I don't know when.   The only thing Ron responds to are Facebook posts.  Finally, I know we have lots of rain this week. I've said so in my texts.  I have no idea what that has to do with anything and whether or not that makes it more or less likely that he is going to finish his job. I guess it can't be less likely since we're already at 0% chance of him finishing.

Rain All Week. Time to work inside

Still haven't heard from Ron or Private Sewer.  It is supposed to rain all week.  Since Ron has used rain as an excuse to not work on our catch basin all summer, and since he often posts about doing work indoors during the rain, I figured I would give him the opportunity to finish the electrical work that I paid for back in February.

I texted him that with the rain all week its the perfect time to complete the electrical work that he owes me.   No response from him.

A Week Goes By and Still no Progress from Private Sewer

Its been a week since I last heard from Ron.  He hasn't said anything about the Angie's List complaint.  I called him out on his Facebook page again before leaving work.   He texted me back "Are you ready?"  I have no idea what that means.  At this point I'm pretty sure he's just trolling me.

No word from Ron again today, so I submitted my review on Angie's list for Private Sewer and Water today.

• I gave them an N/A on price.  Unfortunately I don't have anything to compare them against and I'm trying to be fair. 
• They got a C for quality.  I don't really have a complaint with the workers so I don't want to knock the quality of their work.  I'm torn on this one.  I guess they did well on what they finished, but they also didn't complete a large portion of the project which is pretty poor quality if you ask me.
• The got an F for responsiveness.  If I could have gone lower I would have. 
• Punctuality also earned them an F.  Not showing up at all for scheduled appointments is about as bad as you can get for punctuality.
• Professionalism.  This speaks for itself.  Missing multiple appointments without notifying the customer, not responding to calls, not completing work in a timely manner, the list goes on and on.

So overall they get and F and I submitted them to the complaint resolution process.  We'll see how this one goes.

No Follow Through from Ron, or the Private Sewer and Water Corp

I still haven't heard from Ron.   I'm starting to wonder if he even receives my texts.   I text him anyway asking if he intends on coming out today or not.


Ron texts back that he is waiting for the stars to align.


At least that confirms that he does get my texts, and just ignores them.  What an unprofessional douche bag.


So calling isn't an option because he never answers, his voicemail is often full and he responds to messages.  Texting doesn't seem to be much of an option either since he just ignores those.  Looks like posting to Facebook is the way of the future.  At least there I can tell that he sees the messages since he deletes them right away.  He also tends to respond pretty quickly.

Ron Hints that He Might Be Considering Finishing the Job

Ron Texted me at 7:30 this morning.  He says he is on his way back from a wake in Ohio and wants to know what days are good for me this week.  Its already Wednesday.  I tell him today between 11 and 5, anytime tomorrow and Friday afternoon.   He never responded.


I was supposed to start filling out more online reviews about the Private Sewer and Water Corp today based on my threat earlier, but I opted to give him the benefit of the doubt since he was (or claims to have been) at a wake.  I'll give him until the end of the week.  Plus I don't really have time to deal with filling out reviews until the weekend anyway.


After work I still hadn't heard anything from him.  I texted him again and said that he needs to pick a time and let us know.  We aren't going to just sit around all day hoping the stars will align perfectly for him to actually show up.  No response.

Still no word from Ron Janis on Finishing the Job.

Its the last day of the Month.  I haven't heard from Ron since the 24th when he said he was going to send someone out to start finishing the job that I paid him for back in February.


I remind him that this is the last day he has before I start submitting more reviews. 


No Response.

Private Sewer and Water Continues to Avoid Completing their job

No contact from Ron today.   I posted on Facebook that he has until the end of the month to finish the job or I post negative reviews on every review website I can find.

Ron Janis - Fails to Show Up Again.

Ron said he would be here promptly at 11:30 today to complete the job that I paid him for in full back in February. He was finally going to finish in exchange for me removing a negative Yelp review.


At 12:15 he calls to say he is going to try to shoot someone over to dig out the catch basin so he can tie it off later today or tomorrow.  So much for promptness.   And as you can expect he never actually showed up.


I got home around 8:00pm and texted him that this is why he gets bad reviews.  He never follows through on anything.

Private Sewer No-Shows Because I gave them a bad review for No-Showing

The Private Sewer Corporation was supposed to be at my house around noon today.  I hadn't heard or see anything from them by 2pm, so I gave Ron a call.  I got Voice mail, but Ron calls back right away.  Of course he can't hear anything I'm saying. Seriously, how can you run a business with a non-function phone?  This is getting ridiculous.    I texted him asking for a status update and if he is coming or not.  No response.




When I got home from work I called Ron from my home phone.  He answered, I'm guessing because he didn't recognize the number on his caller ID.  I asked him what happened today.


He sighs and says he got tied up.  Then he says he saw that I lit him up on Yelp so he didn't feel like coming out. 




I asked him what he expected me to do, and he counters with he's going to come out promptly (his word) at 11:30 tomorrow.  When he got there I was to delete the review and then he would finish the job.




Fine.  Whatever it takes to get him out here.  I can always put the review back up if he does a crappy job.




Its somewhat telling that Ron he can't seem to find time to finish a job that has been paid for long ago, or even bother attempting to schedule a completion date, but when the image of his company is called into question he can suddenly drop everything.

Private Sewer Misses another Opportunity to Finish the Job.

I called Ron on the way to work this morning. He said he was on his way to the shop but he thought he would be able to squeak me in this afternoon.  He would call in 30-45 minutes to verify.


By noon I hadn't heard back, so I called again.  As is fairly common his voicemail box is full.


I called him again after work.  Once again his phone sounds like he's underwater.  I don't what he did to it, or if he is just screwing with me.  Says he'll call me right back.


Ten minutes later  he texts me asking if Thursday will work. I respond what is wrong with Tomorrow (Tuesday)  Seeing as I've already paid in full I should go to the head of the list.  He says it would have to be around noon, which I agree to.


So once again Ron Janis, and the Private Sewer Corp have completely ignored a paying customer and managed to avoid completing the work that they have paid to do.

Yelp Review Submitted

I posted a review on Yelp today.  Private Sewer and Water currently have two stars. Of the twenty plus reviews posted, only  a handful are accepted.  The others are negative or obvious fake reviews that Ron submitted.   Its too bad he puts more time into making up reviews for himself than to serving paying customers that would have written those positive reviews for him. 


Good customer service is the best publicity.  Ron keeps deleting my Facebook comments because they show crappy his customer service is, but he can't delete reviews.  There's a price to pay for being a lying unprofessional scumbag.  He may think he can take advantage of people, but I don't think its going to be worth the amount of effort that he is putting in to avoiding his commitments.

Private Sewer Still Ignoring Responsibilities

I called Ron this morning and left him a Voicemail to see if he was coming out today.  I was 99.98% sure he wasn't going to come out, but I want to make sure he knows I'm not going away.


As expected, he ignores the voicemail.

Ron Janis tries to run out the clock

I called Ron twice this morning.  Got voicemail both times.  I posted to the Private Sewer and Water Facebook page.  No response. 


On the way home from work I called again. Ron actually answered, but it sounded like he was underwater.   He couldn't hear me.  I hung up and called back, over and over and over.  Voicemail every time.


Finally I just left a message stating how disappointed I was that I had been stood up three times this week.


Ron texts that he'll call me in fifteen minutes.  He never calls.  I'm pretty sure he was just stalling until the end of the work week so that he could hit reset on his schedule and pretend that he doesn't have an obligation to finish the job that he was paid for months ago. 


What a slimeball.

Private Sewer No-Show: Thursday Edition

I should have known better than to let Ron have a free day in between the last time he missed his scheduled appointment and the next time he is supposed to show up, but we had stuff scheduled throughout the day on Wednesday.


They were supposed to come out between 8:30 and 9:00 this morning.  This is after standing us up on Tuesday, and before that on Friday.  And more times than I can count in the months since we paid back in February.


At 9:45  Ron calls me to say that they are finishing up a job that they started yesterday and that they will head out to our place after that.


This is just another example of how little respect Ron Janis has for his paying customers.  He was supposed to be at my house by 9 AM.  He knew at the end of the day yesterday that he wasn't going to make his scheduled appointment, yet rather than letting me know then so we can adjust our schedule, he waits until 45 minutes after he is supposed to be here to let us know. 


At 3:30 I haven't heard anything from Ron so I give him a call, and get voicemail.    Ron texts me saying that they are just finishing up and then they will head out to my house.  I text back pointing out that it is pretty late in the day and he's pretty far from my house, is he sure he's going to make it.  As is typical I get no response.  Also they don't show up.  Why am I not surprised?

Ron Janis Lies again. Yet another No-show from Private Water and Sewer

The Private Sewer and Water company was supposed to be at my house between 8 and 9 this morning.  This is after standing us up last Friday and countless other times since we paid them in full back in February.


By 10am haven't seen or heard from them.  I posted to their facebook page on how unprofessional they are.


At 3PM  Ron calls and claims that they showed up, but we weren't there.   This is a bunch of crap for a number of reasons.


First my wife waited around until at least 10am.  Meaning they were at least an hour late.  They didn't bother to call to let us know they were running late.  They didn't respond to our attempts to contact them.   After months of no-shows, there is no way that we are going to wait around in hopes that they actually show up.


Second, my wife was literally just across the street at the park.  If they had called or made any effort what so ever to contact us, she would have been back at the house in under five minutes.


Finally, Ron has repeatedly stated that we don't need be around for him to do the catch basin work.  The fact that he didn't do that indicates that he was only prepared to do half of the work he owes me at best. 


The bottom line is that Ron Janis is not to be trusted. 


As I'm yelling at him he suggests that we should just pick a time for them to come out.  I point out that we already did that.  It was earlier today between 8-9 and he didn't show up.   He says he'll come out on Thursday between 8:30 and 9:00.

Private Sewer and Water No-Shows Again.

Today was the epitome of dealing with Ron Janis and the Private Sewer and Water Corporation.  They were scheduled to come out today to finish the job.  This is a job that I paid them for back in February. 


I called when I got into work to find out what the plan is.  Ron says he'll talk to the guys and call me back in five minutes.


After thirty minutes I haven't heard anything so I call back.  Ron says they are coming up with a battle plan and he'll call me right back.


Two hours later I haven't heard from him so I give him a call again.  I get voicemail.


Four hours later its almost the end of the day and I haven't heard back from him.  I get voicemail again. 


So I resort to posting on Facebook that he failed to meet his commitment again.    Ron texts if Tuesday between 8 and 9 is ok.  I accept.




I've said it before and I'll say it again.  Do not pay Ron Janis or the Private Sewer and Water Corp before they finish a job.  They will lie to your face.  They will tell you exactly what you want to hear just to get you off the phone, then continue to ignore you.  If they aren't going to be making any more money from you then they have no interest in you.  Ron has absolutely no respect for other people's time or schedule, with the possible exception of the chance that he may be able to get money out of you.

Ron Janis is Rude to Customers

I still haven't heard back from Ron even though he told me last week that he would contact me early this week to schedule the completion of the job that I paid for over eight months ago.   I gave him a call on the way home from work.


He answers the phone with "I hope you don't expect me to come out tomorrow"  (It is supposed to storm pretty bad tomorrow so I think he thinks he's going to get a lot of flood crisis business).


First of all, that is not how should talk to a customer, especially one who you have been continually screwing over since February.  Second of all, why would I not expect him to come out tomorrow?  I've paid for a job to be done.  It is completely reasonable to have an expectation for that job to be finished.


I told him it didn't have to be tomorrow, but he needed to pick a day and show up to finish the job.  He agreed to come out on Friday the 12th  I told him I would call that morning to confirm.

Still No Word From Ron

Ron hasn't returned my call so I leave him another voicemail.

No Word from Private Sewer and Water on Scheduling the Completion of the Job

If you recall last week Ron told me that he would call early this week to schedule the completion of the job that I paid him for back in February.  I hadn't heard from him at the end of the day so I gave him a call and left a voicemail.  He did not return my call.

Ron Janis Actually Sort of Commits to Maybe Finishing a Long Overdue Job

I was finally able to get ahold of Ron today.  Most unexpectedly he actually answered his phone.  I asked when he planned to finish the job that I paid him for  He told me that his Mexicans were getting back from vacation and he'd have a better idea next week. (his words not mine).  He said take a three weeks of vacation to go to Mexico every year and now that they are getting back he should have time to finish the job.  I should give him a call early next week so he can figure it out.


Of course his crew being on vacation hasn't stopped him from working on other jobs during the summer.   And as usual he is just making it up as he goes along.  He has no idea what his next week is going to look like and by the time it gets here he's probably not going to remember that he committed anything to me.

I Give Private Sewer and Water the Benefit of the Doubt on their BBB Complaint

I still haven't heard back from Ron on scheduling completion of the job that is more than six months overdue.  Last I heard from him was Wednesday morning when he told me that he would get back to me that afternoon with a plan.

Since today is the last day for him to respond to the BBB Complaint I emailed the BBB to inform them that Ron claimed he never received the complaint, but that he also has not returned my calls for days now.

They sent out a second notice, this time a paper copy.  Maybe this time Ron will finally take action and resolve this matter.  I wouldn't bet on it though.

Once Again, No Contact from Ron Janis and the Private Sewer and Water Corp

I left a voicemail for Ron this morning inquiring when he was planning on finishing the job that is now more than six months overdue.  He was supposed to schedule it two days ago but has not answered or responded to a call since Wednesday.

No response to my voicemail.

A Proposal for Ron Janis and the Private Sewer and Water Corp.

As usual Ron has not called me back like he said he would.  I left him a voice mail proposing the following.

• He posts on facebook that he is going to finish the job at my house (I want this so that there is some accountability when he skips out again).
• When he shows up at my house I'll delete the bad review I gave him on Facebook.
• If he completes the job, the review stays down.

Ron called back shortly thereafter and agreed.   He said he would call back again this afternoon with a date and time to complete the job. As of 8PM tonight I have not heard back from him.

I Contact Ron Janis about the BBB Complaint

Ron Janis and the Private Sewer and Water Corp have still not responded to my complaint.  If they don't respond soon the BBB will close it and mark that Private Sewer and Water did not respond.  That would be bad for both of us.  Its bad for Ron because it make his business look bad and lowers their already poor BBB grade.  Its bad for me because I was hoping that Ron would not want it to be publicly know how poorly he has treated me as a customer and the threat of negative publicity would incentivise him to complete the project that is now way overdue.

So giving Ron the benefit of the doubt I called him to make sure he had an opportunity to respond.  Ron actually answered the phone which is a first.  I must have caught him off guard.  I asked him if he was going to respond to the complaint and he said he hadn't received it but he would check his spam folder, or I could email him the complaint number.  If I was willing to take down my negative feedback from Facebook then he would finish the job right away.

There are a couple of telling things from this conversation.

1. Ron didn't receive the complaint.  I doubt this.   There are email threads on the BBB site with him addressing other BBB complaints.  If he changed his business email address and didn't set up the old account to forward to him then I question his business intellect.
2. He says that in exchange for taking down negative feedback he will finish my job immediately.  He had over five months to complete the job before he had received negative feedback. There was no urgency then.  The fact that he might drop everything now to complete it is somewhat appalling.  The fact that he let it get to this point says a lot about his priorities.  Paying customers apparently don't rank too high.

Private Sewer and Water Don't Respond to BBB Complaint

I haven't heard anything from Ron since I submitted my complaint.  Apparently the BBB hasn't either.  They sent me an email stating that The Private Sewer and Water Corp has not responded to my complaint and inquired if I had heard from them.

BBB Confirms Receipt of Complaint. Notifies Private Sewer and Water Corp

No major update.  The BBB confirmed that they received my complaint and that they will forward it on to  Ron Janis and the Private Sewer and Water Corp.  Hopefully I will hear from Ron soon and we can end this thing.

I filed a BBB Complaint Against the Private Sewer and Water Corp Today

I've finally gotten fed up with Ron Janis' lies and excuses. I warned him that if he didn't show up when scheduled to complete the job that is now almost 6 months overdue that I would be forced to submit a complaint.  He didn't seem to care.  Although reading some of the other complaints against him indicate that he might.  My only hope at this point is that he will want to protect his reputation and that might encourage him to finally follow thorough on his commitments.  We shall see.

Their current BBB score is a C+.
